MoEF Team's Site Inspection

The National Green Tribunal in an effort to get to the bottom of the various non-forest illegalities in the forest areas of these estates had the forest areas inspected by a team of the Ministry of Environment and Forests.

The Mixed Conifer Forests of Gadoli Fee Simple Estate

The team spent the day inspecting the various violations of the Forest Conservation Act, 1980. This included the illegal dumping of garbage, the illegal construction of the Gadoli - Premnagar Bypass, the illegal stone removal and stone quarrying, illegal agriculture activities, tree felling, encroachments and illegal construction of unmettalled roads.

The MoEF team found that the forests of the Gadoli and Manda Khal Fee Simple Estates were no ordinary forests but are to be categorized as DEEMED FORESTS which means that these forests are to be treated on par with the Reserve Forests of the nation and that the same rules and regulations that apply to a Reserve Forest shall apply to the forest areas of the Gadoli and Manda Khal Fee Simple Estates.

My next few write - ups will bring to you all the findings of the MoEF Team on the violations of the forest and environment laws of the country.
